The Cocoa & Coffee Seedling Project (CCSP) is a strategic initiative led by Sawyer Camp Farmers CIG to address low crop yields and environmental degradation in rural communities. Through this program, SCF-CIG is transforming how small-scale farmers cultivate cocoa and coffee, fostering long-term economic and ecological sustainability.
SCF-CIG farmers cultivate high-quality cocoa and coffee seedlings in specialized nurseries using modern techniques. Once the seedlings are mature and healthy, they are distributed to local small-scale farmers at no cost. These robust seedlings significantly enhance crop success rates, enabling farmers to improve productivity and income.
The CCSP is more than just a seedling supply initiative; it’s a comprehensive capacity-building program. SCF-CIG farmers provide ongoing support and mentorship to beneficiary farmers, covering topics such as:
This knowledge-sharing approach ensures that farmers are not only equipped with better seedlings but are also empowered with the skills to grow and manage their crops sustainably.
The CCSP delivers widespread benefits that ripple through the community:
By linking experienced SCF-CIG farmers with emerging growers, the CCSP creates a network of knowledge transfer and mutual support. The result is a resilient farming community equipped to thrive both economically and ecologically.
